Bath re-enamelling near Biggar

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Biggar

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Biggar

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

For anyone letting property in or around Biggar, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Repairing versus replacing in Biggar

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

What you get with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

What we cannot put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Biggar

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
