Bath re-enamelling at your home in Bottom o' th' Moor

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. Common call-outs are for a peeling or bubbling previous coating and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, in pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Bottom o' th' Moor

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, with the bath back in use the next day. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Bottom o' th' Moor, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
