What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Bradford-on-Avon

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. If you’re dealing with staining under the taps and around the waste and chips and rust in more than one place, we can usually put it right, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths alike.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

What we’re called out for in Bradford-on-Avon

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Before booking anyone

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day

How to compare quotes

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take the best part of a day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Common questions in Bradford-on-Avon

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back. There is no obligation to book.

Are there extra charges for Bradford-on-Avon?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Will the new finish last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs
  • No extra charge for your area

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
