How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Brinian. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

FAQs for Brinian

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Do you come to Brinian?

We do. Technicians travel to Brinian from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Brinian

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Repairing versus replacing in Brinian

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why Brinian customers choose us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Brinian as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
