Bath re-enamelling for Brown Candover homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Brown Candover

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Typical jobs include staining under the taps and around the waste and an outdated colour you’d like to change, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

What affects the price in Brown Candover

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Brown Candover. The price comes down to:

  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Brown Candover as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Questions from Brown Candover

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are there extra charges for Brown Candover?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes the best part of a day in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
