Bath re-enamelling in Burnopfield

Bath re-enamelling in Burnopfield, done in place

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We work on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about an old resurfacing that’s failing and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Landlords, agents and businesses in Burnopfield

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Burnopfield questions

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Gateshead, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

What affects the price in Burnopfield

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Burnopfield. The price reflects:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
