Bath re-enamelling in Caereithin, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Whether it’s worn patches where water runs and sits and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can help, on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths alike.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Swansea.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace in Caereithin?

Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes most of the day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
