Bath re-enamelling near Campbeltown

Bath re-enamelling in Campbeltown, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are several chips and rust patches and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Campbeltown. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your PA28 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
