Bath re-enamelling near Cefn

About our bath re-enamelling in Cefn

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include wear marks under the taps and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Cefn

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Cefn

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Cefn. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

If you’re in Cefn and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Cefn questions

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
