How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Bath re-enamelling in Clate without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It usually takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and stains that won’t shift, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

How it works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a full day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Repair dripping taps early

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Clate

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in the Shetland Islands and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

When to call us in Clate

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A roll-top that is seen better days

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How soon you can use it again

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
