About our bath re-enamelling in Clifton

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are chips and rust in more than one place and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

What we’re called out for in Clifton

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

How to compare quotes

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Clifton: your questions answered

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What happens after I send photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no obligation to book.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
