About our bath re-enamelling in Clockmill
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. We work on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about stains that won’t shift and worn patches where water runs and sits.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Questions from Clockmill
When can you do it?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Can pets and children be at home?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.
Can you quote from pictures?
Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
What happens next?
We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Do you charge for travel?
We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Honest limits
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A bath that’s rusted through
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we are called out for in Clockmill
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Several chips and rust patches
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- A coloured bath you want in white
- An old resurfacing that is failing
Questions to ask before you book
- How changes to the job are handled
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- Who turns up on the day
- If travel is included in the price
Repair or replace: which is better?
There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How it works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
How to prepare
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Point us to the nearest place to park
Getting a price
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

For landlords and businesses
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in the Scottish Borders and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Aftercare tips
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Have chips seen to early
- Avoid suction-cup mats
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
