Bath re-enamelling in Cowbit

Bath re-enamelling in Cowbit without replacing anything

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about stains that won’t shift and lots of chips and rust spots.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Cowbit. The price reflects:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode

For a price in Cowbit, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

The process

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Repair or replace in Cowbit?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
