Bath re-enamelling for Cranmore homes

Bath re-enamelling in Cranmore, done in place

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It typically takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. If you’re dealing with chips and rust in more than one place and a coloured bath you want in white, we can help, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

The process

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes the best part of a day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Common questions in Cranmore

How long does re-enamelling last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Cranmore?

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the price covers travel

How to compare quotes

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
