Bath re-enamelling in Cripp's Corner, done in place
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. If you’re dealing with worn patches where water runs and sits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can normally put it right, on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths alike.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

When a repair is not the answer
A repair is not right for every job, including:
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Repair or replace: which is better?
A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Have chips seen to early
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
DIY kit or professional repair?
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
How the visit works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Make sure the area is dry
