Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

About our bath re-enamelling in Crossway

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. If you are dealing with a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and several chips and rust patches, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Crossway and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No need to remove anything
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. You can expect it to take a full day, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Crossway. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
