Worktop repair near Crossway

Worktop repair in Crossway without replacing anything

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. The goal is always a repair that blends in. We regularly repair solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and laminate, and people most frequently call us about scorch marks from pans and chips in quartz or granite.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours. We leave the room clean.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire worktop

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Common problems we fix in Crossway

The worst damage often happens in a moment: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips near the sink
  • A chipped quartz edge
  • Knife marks
  • Burns from hot pans

Before booking anyone

  • If travel is included in the price
  • When it can be used again
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Use a chopping board
  • Do not knock pans against the edge

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, as water can get in and cause swelling.

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface over a board. We fill the damage and recreate the pattern by hand.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.
