Bath re-enamelling for Dryburgh homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Dryburgh

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We work on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about lots of chips and rust spots and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Dryburgh?

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Dryburgh

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Dundee and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Respect the curing time we give you

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
