How we handle bath re-enamelling in East End of London

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about a roll-top that’s seen better days and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Questions from East End of London

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Do you cover the whole of Greater London?

All of Greater London, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Do you work in East End of London?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to East End of London. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Landlord and trade work in East End of London

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

What we’re called out for in East End of London

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What prep work is covered
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
