How we handle bath re-enamelling in Eastfield
If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Common call-outs are for worn patches where water runs and sits and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

When to call us in Eastfield
Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Several chips and rust patches
What to look for in a quote

What affects the price in Eastfield
Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Send photos for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Where you are, by postcode
- The material, if you know it
- A photo taken from further back
Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your EH15 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

The process
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Getting ready for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
Ask for a price
We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.
Related advice
Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Repairing versus replacing in Eastfield
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Eastfield. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What we can’t put right
A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
