Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Edgeley

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. If you are dealing with thin, worn enamel in places and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

What we can’t put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your SK3 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Common questions in Edgeley

Are there extra charges for Edgeley?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Repairing versus replacing in Edgeley

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
