Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

About our bath re-enamelling in Egypt

We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Whether it’s worn patches where water runs and sits and an outdated colour you’d like to change, we can generally put it right.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Egypt. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Egypt

  • No extra charge for your area
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One visit for most repairs

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the area is dry

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One picture of the entire bath

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your SO21 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Common questions in Egypt

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Egypt?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
