Bath re-enamelling near Elsted Marsh

Bath re-enamelling in Elsted Marsh without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you’re dealing with a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can generally put it right.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Repairing versus replacing in Elsted Marsh

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Elsted Marsh: your questions answered

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Landlord and trade work in Elsted Marsh

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
