Bath re-enamelling in Elton

FAQs for Elton

Do you work in Elton?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Elton for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

About our bath re-enamelling in Elton

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Typical jobs include thin, worn enamel in places and several chips and rust patches, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • The material

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any details about the material
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A photo taken from further back

If you are in Elton and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Elton, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Repair or replace: which is better?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • One visit for most repairs
  • We leave the room as we found it

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
