Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Bath re-enamelling in Falcon Lodge without replacing anything

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, across acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Questions from Falcon Lodge

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Falcon Lodge included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Do you come to Falcon Lodge?

We do. We send a technician to Falcon Lodge for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Falcon Lodge

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Falcon Lodge use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Falcon Lodge. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It typically takes the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
