Bath re-enamelling in Fangfoss

About our bath re-enamelling in Fangfoss

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. If you are dealing with a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can typically put it right, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Fangfoss and across East Riding of Yorkshire.

Repair or replace in Fangfoss?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • No extra charge for your area

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a full day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How your room will be protected
