Bath re-enamelling for Fenstanton homes

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Fenstanton

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the day after. If you’re dealing with a coating lifting around the plughole and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can help.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Common questions in Fenstanton

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you work in Fenstanton?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Fenstanton. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How it works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
