Bath re-enamelling near Cambridge

Bath re-enamelling in Cambridge, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We are frequently asked to fix several chips and rust patches and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Common questions in Cambridge

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices do not change with location.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Cambridge?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CB1 postcode.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

Most customers in Cambridge get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What we are called out for in Cambridge

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Comparing quotes

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Landlord and trade work in Cambridge

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cambridgeshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

If you manage property in Cambridge, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Repairing versus replacing in Cambridge

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
