Bath re-enamelling in Five Ways without replacing anything
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. Whether it’s a roll-top that’s seen better days and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

When to call us in Five Ways
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- Several chips and rust patches
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
What to look for in a quote
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What aftercare is recommended
- Who turns up on the day
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
Repair or replace: which is better?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.
Why us?
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- No need to remove anything

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Five Ways
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We give you timings with the quote.
Will there be fumes?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We come back with a fixed quote, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:
- The material and finish
- Doing more than one item at once
- How hard the colour is to match
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
Getting a price from photos
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Something in shot to show the size
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

DIY kit or professional repair?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
How the visit works
We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes most of the day. The room is left tidy.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
