Need bath re-enamelling in Four Roads?

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Four Roads. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why Four Roads clients choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Bath re-enamelling in Four Roads, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Four Roads. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Four Roads get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Landlord and trade work in Four Roads

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Four Roads: your questions answered

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Four Roads included. Travel is included in the price.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow the best part of a day, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can

Advice

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

When to call us in Four Roads

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Comparing quotes

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Who will actually do the work

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
