Bath re-enamelling for Gib Heath homes

Bath re-enamelling in Gib Heath without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and chips and rust in more than one place.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • No extra charge for your area

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Gib Heath. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

FAQs for Gib Heath

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you come to Gib Heath?

We do. We send a technician to Gib Heath for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Repair dripping taps early

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
