Bath re-enamelling for Handsworth Wood homes

Bath re-enamelling in Handsworth Wood without replacing anything

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and several chips and rust patches, on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Handsworth Wood

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off

What to look for in a quote

  • How long it needs to cure
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before booking

Handsworth Wood: your questions answered

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do you cover the entire of Birmingham?

We cover the whole UK, including Handsworth Wood and the rest of Birmingham. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
