How we handle bath re-enamelling in Glasgow

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Landlord and trade work in Glasgow

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Glasgow: your questions answered

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Are there extra charges for Glasgow?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Glasgow

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Before you book anyone

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • When it can be used again
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

How it works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Repairing versus replacing in Glasgow

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Glasgow. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
