Bath re-enamelling for Great Strickland homes

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Great Strickland

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and several chips and rust patches, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

If you are in Great Strickland and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

FAQs for Great Strickland

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Great Strickland?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?

Across the UK, and that includes Great Strickland. Prices don’t change with location.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
