Bath re-enamelling at your home in Gullane

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Typical jobs include worn patches where water runs and sits and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, across acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Common questions in Gullane

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, generally with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

Are there extra charges for Gullane?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Never use suction bath mats

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repair or replace in Gullane?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

For anyone letting property in or around Gullane, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

When to call us in Gullane

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Comparing quotes

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Who turns up on the day
  • When it can be used again

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Gullane. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
