Bath re-enamelling for North Berwick homes

North Berwick: your questions answered

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Generally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Bath re-enamelling in North Berwick, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We’re frequently asked to fix a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a roll-top that’s seen better days, across cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in East Lothian.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in North Berwick?

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

10 questions to ask before booking

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a full day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

When we’d advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There is no charge for travel to North Berwick. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for North Berwick. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Landlords, agents and businesses in North Berwick

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Take a look at our pricing or bath cost comparison.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
