How we handle bath re-enamelling in Dunbar

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It generally takes one visit, and can be used again the next day. We are often asked to fix thin, worn enamel in places and a coloured bath you want in white, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

When to call us in Dunbar

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Before you book anyone

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before booking

Landlord and trade work in Dunbar

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Dunbar use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Dunbar. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Take a look at our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote. You are under no obligation.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Dunbar?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
