Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hartley

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about an old resurfacing that’s failing and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Kent.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • No need to remove anything

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Hartley: your questions answered

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Are there extra charges for Hartley?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes the best part of a day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
