Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Hampshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why Hatchet Green clients choose us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Everywhere in the UK, Hatchet Green included. Travel is included in the price.

Are there extra charges for Hatchet Green?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
