How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Morgan's Vale

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Typical jobs include a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and worn patches where water runs and sits, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Morgan's Vale. The price reflects:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Morgan's Vale, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
