Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Hickling Pastures

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Hickling Pastures

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Hickling Pastures. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

Advice

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What we are called out for in Hickling Pastures

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is generally perfectly sound.

Clients normally contact us about:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

What your quote should include

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What preparation is included
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who turns up on the day

Repairing versus replacing in Hickling Pastures

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
