Bath re-enamelling in Higher End without replacing anything
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. If you’re dealing with thin, worn enamel in places and stains that won’t shift, we can usually put it right, on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths alike.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

The process
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
How to get a price

What we are called out for in Higher End
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.
The things clients generally mention when they call are:
- A coloured bath you want in white
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Lots of chips and rust spots
Questions to ask before booking

- What happens if they find more damage
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
Repair or replace in Higher End?
If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Store bottles off the bath
- Repair dripping taps early
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Landlord and trade work in Higher End
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
What we can’t put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- A bath that is rusted through
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
