Bath re-enamelling in Higher Marston

Higher Marston questions

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Higher Marston

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We’re often asked to fix enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Higher Marston. The price reflects:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath

Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your CW9 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Higher Marston

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Higher Marston. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a full day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the day after.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Higher Marston?

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What happens if they find more damage
