Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hillingdon

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about a roll-top that’s seen better days and a coating lifting around the plughole.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Hillingdon. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Hillingdon. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed quote.

For anyone letting property in or around Hillingdon, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Hillingdon

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Hillingdon.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What a repair cannot fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
