Bath re-enamelling & resurfacing in Hilton, Cambridgeshire
Bath re-enamelling across Hilton and nearby, normally in one visit.
- Resurfacing from £350
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
Bath re-enamelling in Hilton without replacing anything
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is generally the most cost-effective option. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are a coating lifting around the plughole and a coloured bath you want in white.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

The process
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Getting a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
Advice
Also in Hilton
Why repair rather than replace?
There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Hilton. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
What you get with us

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hilton
Older baths frequently have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
What your quote should include
- Whether a trained technician does the job
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- What aftercare is recommended
- What happens if they find more damage

Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
What we can’t put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

For landlords and businesses
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hilton as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Questions from Hilton
Will there be fumes?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Hilton?
Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

How long does re-enamelling take?
Most baths are done in a day, ready the following day. We give you timings with the quote.
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.
