Bath re-enamelling in Honor Oak, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We are often asked to fix stains that won’t shift and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Take a look at our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Honor Oak. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We will say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
