Bath re-enamelling in Horrabridge without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. If you’re dealing with a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can help.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Questions from Horrabridge

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
