Need bath re-enamelling in Hungerford Green?

Bath re-enamelling in Hungerford Green, done in place

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. Typical jobs include a coating lifting around the plughole and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, in acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Questions from Hungerford Green

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Do you cover the whole of Oxfordshire?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Hungerford Green. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Oxfordshire.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

What affects the price in Hungerford Green

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job without visiting.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take most of the day, including clearing up.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

What a repair cannot fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
