Hyde Park Estate questions

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hyde Park Estate

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We work on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about staining under the taps and around the waste and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hyde Park Estate

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace in Hyde Park Estate?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why Hyde Park Estate customers choose us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • No need to remove anything
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Repair dripping taps early

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a full day. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
