Bath re-enamelling in Iffley

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Iffley use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

For anyone letting property in or around Iffley, we will quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

Bath re-enamelling in Iffley, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. If you are dealing with thin, worn enamel in places and a coloured bath you want in white, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath

For a price in Iffley, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

What we are called out for in Iffley

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Before booking anyone

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Aftercare advice
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Common questions in Iffley

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you come to Iffley?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Iffley and the rest of Oxfordshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Oxfordshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes the best part of a day, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Never use suction bath mats

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
